Course curriculum

Reading and Listening Skills

Students will be able to read short articles, emails, notices, and simple descriptions in German. Listening skills will include everyday conversations, public announcements, and short interviews — a core requirement of the Goethe A2 Hören (listening) section.

Practical Communication

By the end of this elementary German class, students will be able to describe routines, make plans, handle shopping and travel conversations, and share simple opinions. This course fully prepares students for the Goethe A2 exam's Sprechen (speaking) component, including personal questions and paired planning tasks.

Teaching Methods

Doitsu – The German Language Institute uses a mix of live instructor-led classes, practice sheets, speaking labs, role-play exercises, and weekly tests. This ensures every skill — reading, writing, listening, and speaking — is taught in an engaging, practical way, rather than through rote memorization alone.

Pass Marks for Goethe A2

To pass the Goethe A2 exam, students must achieve at least 60 out of 100 total points, including at least 45 points in the written exam (Lesen, Hören, Schreiben) and 15 points in Sprechen.

Maximum: 100 points (75 written + 25 oral) | Passing score: 60 out of 100 (60%) Grading: 90–100 Sehr gut · 80–89 Gut · 70–79 Befriedigend · 60–69 Ausreichend

Written sections are conducted together in one sitting (about 90 minutes). Sprechen is a separate pair exam of 15 minutes, or 10 minutes as an individual exam.
